Daddy's Braised Ribs

I have taken a bit of a vacation from my kitchen this week, but lucky for us Daddy stepped in and made these delicious ribs tonight.

They were sweet, simple to make and fall off the bone tender. Definitely a recipe for the "make again" folder.

3 to 4 lb. country style pork ribs
1/2 onion, sliced
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup ketchup
1/4 cup vinegar
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup whiskey / bourbon
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Heat oven to 350 degrees.

Season ribs with salt and pepper. Place in a roasting pan and top with sliced onion.

In 2 quart saucepan, combine remaining ingredients. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally until mixture comes to a full boil (5 to 8 minutes). Pour over ribs and turn ribs to coat on all sides.

Bake, turning ribs every 20 to 30 minutes for 2 to 2 1/2 hours or until ribs are fork tender. Remove ribs and skim fat from sauce. Serve sauce with ribs.
