Best Ever Chocolate Chip Cookies

What to do on a cold, gray afternoon inside with the kids? Baking cookies is always a hit around here. This is a pretty basic chocolate chip cookie recipe, but it never fails to get great reviews. I do find chilling the dough before baking is very important to improve the texture of the cookies.

2 1/4 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup lightly packed dark brown sugar
1 tsp good vanilla extract
2 extra large eggs
2 cups (12 oz pkg) semi sweet chocolate morsels

Combine dry ingredients in a bowl. Beat butter, sugars and vanilla extract until creamy. Add the eggs and beat well. Add the dry ingredients and mix well. Stir in chocolate chips.

Chill for at least 1 hour.

Preheat oven to 350. Drop rounded tablespoons on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 8-9 minutes.
